Lingerie has a long and prosperous history as enhancers of the female form. It is believed that the first example of lingerie for women originated in the Mediterranean. This was two thousand years before Christ. The field of womens lingerie has grown and flourished ever since. Now, it is popular among all classes of people. It appears all around the world. It is also a multi-million dollar industry, with newer styles and functions appearing on a regular basis.
There are two different classes of lingerie for women. One style enhances what women already have. Another style hides what women don’t want to have. Bustiers and corsets can fit in both classes. Corsets have a slimming effect, making the waist appear smaller and curvier. Bustiers push up the breasts, enhancing and forming the bust.
Bras are a type of women’s lingerie, although they have been so mainstreamed as to be a normal addition to most women’s closets. Bras can serve many functions. They support women with bigger busts, aiding in back support. They can pull up drooping breasts, and enhance with gel and other fillers. With a pair of matching panties, bras can also attract.
Lingerie has come a long way from the days of burlesque. Seedy motels and back alley shops were the breeding ground of lingerie back then, when men with insatiable appetites went to Burlesque shows to see their fantasies enacted on stage. Women with skimpy or stringy clothing danced. Some took pieces of their clothing off and taunted the men with them. Now, women can do the same thing for their own men, without the inhibition of those older days. Womens lingerie has come into the light, and there exist many gorgeous and tasteful pieces. And what is not tasteful is acceptable in other circles and with other purposes. The g-strings, thongs, backless panties and fishnet stocking with leather are a look that serves to sell sex. This sex sells between a couple in the bedroom or on the pages of Playboy.
Some popular styles of women’s lingerie include:
Camis: These sleeveless tops usually include spaghetti straps and flow over the body. They sometimes include matching panties.
Chemise: A short, straight nightgown, light and soft.
Teddy: Imagine wearing a loose-fitting bathing suit with frills and lace.
Baby Doll: A particular style of lingerie. This was invented in a 1950’s movie of the same name. It is a very short nightgown that accentuates the bust. It stops just above the hips and usually comes with panties. The fabric floats away from the body, while it clasps around the bust.
Kimonos and negligees: These are not lingerie, per se, but can be worn over top of it. For women who chill easily in the shorter pieces, this can make the difference between whether they wear lingerie or not.
Womens lingerie was originally made from silk and satin. It represented sexuality and comfort. Now lingerie is made of a lot of different fabrics, each with its own meaning. Leather lingerie denotes danger and carries with it a rebellious attitude. Velvet lingerie is soft and exotic. Cotton is for modern women who dislike frilly, sassy clothing. Lycra, a relative of spandex, is used for a sporty, tight-fitting look.

There is nothing quite as sweet (and dangerous) as buying your loved one lingerie. What it says is “You’re physically attractive to me and I want to see more!” Of course, this attraction-factor also makes buying lingerie hard, because if you get it wrong and it doesn’t make your loved one stunningly beautiful, you’re likely to end up defusing a volatile situation. This doesn’t have to happen. With a few tips to buying your woman (or man) lingerie, you can find just the right piece.
The first thing to remember when shopping for lingerie is to remember who you’re shopping for. Just because you might like that lacy, stringy black teddy doesn’t mean she will. Find out what she likes. You should have a general idea, but if you don’t, there’s no shame in admitting it. Take a peek in her underwear drawer. Look in her closet. Ask her. Talk to her mother. How you find out isn’t important. If you find that she’s a jeans and T-shirt kind of gal, don’t go out and buy her a see-through teddy with spaghetti straps. Does she like tight clothes? She may enjoy wearing something form-fitting, like a Lycra or spandex teddy. She might also like corsets or bustiers that flatter her figure.
What does her personality tell you she likes? A tomboy isn’t going to want a lacy, frilly gown. Try to force the issue and see what happens. In this case, maybe a thong or a pair or two of boy shorts would go over well. On the other hand, if you regularly see her walking around in next to nothing, and you know she’s got a kinky side, something more risqué would be an order. Perhaps a bikini set. Maybe something more dramatic. A sheer chemise with fishnet stockings. Maybe a whip to go with it. Or you can just buy a naughty maid or sexy nurse costume and dispense with the whole charade.

Most women want to look sexy for their partner, and with these tips for different body types, it’s possible! You don’t need to be a daring exhibitionist and buy crotchless panties or go out and buy lingerie at an expensive lingerie boutique, there are many affordable and sexy lingerie options available these days.
Smaller women will find they can get away with most types of sexy lingerie, but if you also have small breasts it can be hard to find the right outfit. If you buy something that will draw attention away from the breasts and show off other assets it will do the trick. There is plenty of sexy adult lingerie that will draw attention away from the breasts. For example, sexy police woman costumes, sexy leopard costumes or more exotic lingerie like one piece teddies.
Many women face the problem of the misconceived image men have of woman’s breasts. Breasts are not meant to touch our chins! But, there are tricks to creating sexy cleavage to show off to your partner. You can buy a smaller cup size, lingerie with padded cups to push the breasts together, or buy a baby doll with a shelf bra to lift the breasts.
For larger women, it’s hard to find decent lingerie (I should know). So here are a few options to consider. Vertical stripes and darker colors slim the figure. Halter necks push the breasts together and create the illusion of slimmer shoulders, and consider buying lingerie with in-built garters so you can wear opaque stockings thus creating an even slimmer look.
And ladies, please don’t forget how beautiful the female body is, big or small.

You’ve taken the time and researched into what fine sexy lingerie would suit you and your desires the best, made your purchase and now you may be wondering how to best store your new intimate apparel.
The first thing you want to keep in mind is that, in general, the fabrics used to make fine sexy lingerie are more delicate than fabrics used to make other styles of clothing that you wear every day. The lace and lightweight sheer fabrics are more prone to snagging, so try to avoid sharp or abrasive objects while storing your fine lingerie.
All fine sexy lingerie that has any type of stretch fabric incorporated into the design should never be hung on a clothes hanger in the closet. Always store your intimate apparel neatly folded and flat in a dresser drawer or on a shelf away from dust and dirt. The exception to this would be any fine lingerie apparel that isn’t made of stretch fabric, but since most intimate apparel is made of stretch lace, etc., you’ll be storing most, if not all, of your fine sexy lingerie flat.

Baby doll lingerie is one type of sexy lingerie that flatters almost every figure, from the full-bodied woman to the petite. Baby doll lingerie is also a classic style, dating back to the fifties. Baby doll lingerie has been in fashion for over 50 years, and that says a lot about its appeal to women of all ages, shapes and sizes. The popularity is due, in part, to the fact that baby doll screams young, innocent, and cute. What woman can argue with that?

Bras are like clothes, with different designs and cutting to accentuate different shapes of the breast. No one bra fits all shape.
How do you find out whether a bra fit you or not? Here’s some tips.
Try doing your own measurement for bra and cup size and check if it matches your current bra size. If the size differ it might mean that your bra size have changed.
Your bra size consist of two figures; your back size and your cup. You will need to take two measurements using a tape measure.
Back Size : The measurement is taken around the body directly under the bust or your breasts (over your present bra).
Especially when buying a strapless bra, the bra has to fit slightly tighter but not too tight otherwise unsightly bulges would be formed. Use the following table to find your exact bra size.
Back Measurement (cms) / Bra back size
63 – 67 / 30
68 – 72 / 32
73 – 77 / 34
78 – 82 / 36
83 – 87 / 38
88 – 92 / 40
Cup size: this is determined the difference between bra back size and the measurement around the fullest part of the bust.
Calculate the difference of the 2 measurements, rounding it off to the nearest inch. Use the value to find out its corresponding cup size in the table below.
Difference / Cup size
1″ / A
2″ / B
3″ / C
4″ / D
5″ / E
6″ / F
After you have obtained both values, combine the two to get your exact fit size.
Also, if the bra fits tightly or is uncomfortable even though it is the same size as what you have measured, it might mean that the bra’s design have a slightly different cutting or is more suitable for a different breast shape from yours.
Take your time the next time you shop for undergarments. Ask the shop’s staff for help as they can help you do a more accurate measurement and give a good recommendation on which bra they carry is suitable for you.
A good bra of the correct fit is essential to a woman’s breast, and majority of women are still unaware that they are not wearing the right bra. Women today should be aware that wearing the wrong bra size could cause all sorts of medical problems. Some of these symptoms includes backache, shoulder pain, neck ache, tender, aching bust, soreness under bust, grooves in shoulders, and bad posture.
Better fitting bras not only feel comfortable but also help your clothes to look better. A well-fitted bra is similar to a pair of well-fitting shoes. Women should re-measured regularly especially during pregnancy, following childbirth, weight loss or weight gain – as the breast size can change dramatically.
The advantages of a correct fit bra includes no more soreness under the bust, pulling the back down, lifting the shoulder swaps and popping back in what has flowed out, making four boobs.

Have you ever found the most beautiful piece of lingerie, the right color, and the perfect fit only to destroy it in the wash before getting to really enjoy it? Unfortunately this needlessly happens way too often and is completely preventable.
Dry cleaning is probably the easiest way to clean your precious pieces; however, not everyone is comfortable dropping into their local cleaners with a basket full of intimates. Perhaps not such a bad option if you aren’t the real shy type or live in a large town with many cleaners in your neighborhood, but for those in small towns or extremely modest thankfully there are other options.
Hand washing is probably the next best thing. It can be done with a gentle touch and won’t damage fragile garments. If you choose to hand wash, it is best to use cold water to avoid shrinkage. Use a mild detergent recommended for delicates and soak in the sink or a bowl for about 25-30 minutes. Drain and refill with clean water and soak an additional 10 minutes. Gently turn the lingerie with your hand to remove the remaining soap. Once should be sufficient but feel free to complete cycle again for heavily soiled or stained garments.
If you don’t have time to mess with hand washing then machine washing on the gentle cycle is a great alternative. Many of today’s machines offer a delicate cycle that works wonderfully for intimates. Despite their gentleness, a lingerie laundry bag is highly recommended to prevent damage to lace, bows, ribbons, and hooks. Again, use cold water and a detergent specially recommended for delicates. Never use bleach as it can be too harsh and damage the delicate material your lingerie is made from. Remember to separate dark and light colors so they will not discolor one another.
For drying your lingerie, you should hang it up or reshape and dry flat. Never wring out lingerie. If you desire to put your lingerie in the dryer, leave it in the lingerie bag and set to the lowest possible setting.
Following these simple guidelines will ensure you can enjoy your favorite lingerie even longer.
